Healthstat University a First for Employee Wellness Industry

Intensive clinical training program goes beyond the classroom.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., (April 30, 2013) – The nation's leading provider of employee wellness programs, Healthstat, Inc., has what is believed to be the industry's first company-sponsored intensive training program for clinical staff. Called Healthstat University, the program is designed to ensure that Healthstat clinicians across the U.S. are fully prepared to reliably diagnose and prescribe treatments and that they have a deep understanding of the company mission and their role to fulfill it. Healthstat's mission is to measurably improve employee health and productivity of participants, reduce the overall cost of health care, and provide an exceptional benefit to employers and employees.

The program launched in April 2012 with 126 individuals participating in a two-and-a-half day conference held in Charlotte, N.C., which is where Healthstat is headquartered. A second, similar program was completed earlier this month where nationally recognized health and wellness experts joined Healthstat executives, clinical administrators and staff to deliver training on the latest medical information, health coaching, compliance issues, maximizing medical technology and best practices. Healthstat University is eligible for Category 1 CME hours.

Healthstat Director of Clinician Development Nancy Plemmons, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, says Healthstat University is the first known employee training program of its kind in the corporate health and wellness industry.

"No other provider we know of offers this type of intense, personal training and the opportunity for clinical staff to interact with, and learn from, some of the industry's most experienced and knowledgeable professionals," she said.

Debbie Hansen is a Nurse Practitioner who works at one of two on-site clinics Healthstat operates for the County of Santa Barbara, Calif. She said attending Healthstat University last year completely changed the delivery of care for her and her clinical colleagues. "Prior to (attending) Healthstat University we were probably seeing 70 percent episodic patients and 30 percent preventative. Today, we have completely turned that around since learning how much more effective and efficient preventative care is for patients and employers."

"Healthstat is a relationship-based solutions provider and Healthstat University helps ensure we deliver on that promise," explained Healthstat CEO Crockett Dale. "By bringing clinicians together from all over the country, participants are able to learn best practices from one another in a way that cannot be replicated through online sharing and other training methodology."

The next Healthstat University is scheduled for Fall 2014.
