Healthstat Opens Employee Health Clinic For City of Salem, Virginia
On-site clinic designed to improve employee health and lower health care costs.
CHARLOTTE, N.C., (August 19, 2011) – Healthstat, Inc., one of the country's leading providers of on-site health clinics, has opened its newest on-site health clinic for the City of Salem, Virginia. Designed to improve employee health and lower the City's health care costs, the clinic will be used by eligible City employees covered under the City's health benefits plan and their eligible plan dependents.
Located at 15 East Clay Street in Salem, the on-site health clinic provides acute and urgent care, disease management and health risk counseling. Healthstat anticipates that after 36 months, the City of Salem will save $3 in health care claims costs for every $1 the company invests in the clinic. The savings comes from a combination of reduced insurance premiums and increased productivity. Statistics show that the faster someone gets on the road to good health, the less costly the treatment and the less they need to visit the doctor. With fewer insurance claims, employer premiums are reduced. In addition, waiting times at Healthstat clinics average less than 5 minutes, which allows employees to get back to work faster, reducing absenteeism and improving productivity.
"The direct correlation between a person's health and cost is undeniable and Healthstat has a proven model of employee health management," says City of Salem Special Project Manager Teri Atkins. "We are working to reduce our health care costs by improving the health status of our employees, and have made the clinic accessible to their families because we see value and opportunity in family wellness initiatives, so everybody wins."
