Healthstat Earns National Accreditation

On-site health care provider among a select few to pass rigorous quality standards

CHARLOTTE, N.C., (Jan. 25, 2010) — Healthstat, Inc., the country’s leading provider of on-site health care services in employer facilities, announced today that it is among a select group of health care providers that has earned Wellness and Health Promotion (WHP) Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA WHP Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that companies can use to assess wellness and health promotion programs.

Healthstat is one of just 16 organizations nationwide to earn the distinction of NCQA Accreditation in WHP, an important tool for assisting employers in evaluating the quality of health and wellness programs. Such programs have grown in popularity with the rising cost of healthcare. Research conducted by Healthstat shows that, on average, companies utilizing its on-site clinics have decreased healthcare costs between 5 and 20 percent.

“Passing the rigorous accreditation standards set by NCQA is affirmation of Healthstat’s commitment to quality programs and processes for our clients and their employees and is further proof that we are helping build healthier businesses,” said Healthstat CEO Crockett Dale.

The NCQA’s Wellness and Health Promotion Accreditation fully evaluates key areas of health promotion, including how wellness programs are implemented in the workplace, how services (like health coaching) help eligible individuals develop skills to make healthy choices, and how sensitive health information of eligible individuals is properly safeguarded.

Wellness & Health Promotion Accreditation surveys include rigorous on-site and off-site evaluations of 12 standards. A team of experts conducts Accreditation Surveys. A national oversight committee of physicians analyzes the team’s findings and assigns an accreditation level based on the performance level of each organization being evaluated to NCQA’s standards. The standards are intended to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance possible, increase healthy behavior change in eligible individuals and create an environment of continuous improvement. No comparable evaluation exists for wellness and health promotion programs.
