January is a time for many people to get a fresh start as they plan their goals and objectives for the coming year. Dieting and exercise tend to quickly make their way onto many people’s resolution lists, but can just as quickly get overshadowed as the celebratory spirit of the new year fades and the hustle and bustle of life takes over.

We’ve put together a few simple and effective resolution ideas that can help you on your journey to wellness. Although there is no replacement for a well-balanced diet and regular exercise, these tips can be helpful and achievable for even the busiest person.

Take Walking Breaks

Get up from your desk and go for a quick walk. A few laps around the office or out in the parking lot will give your muscles some much needed activity and help with circulation.

Pack Your Own (Healthy) Lunch

Packing a healthy lunch can save you time and help avoid trips to fast food restaurants. Fresh fruits or vegetables make for great mid-day snacks that can help keep you full in between meals.

Get More Sleep

Not getting enough sleep can be more harmful than you might think. Studies show that a lack of sleep can have negative effects on your memory, weight, and overall well-being. Commit to getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night and your body and mind will thank you for it!

Water is essential to life and plays an important role bodily functions such as digestion, circulation, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature. Be sure to drink at least eight 8 oz. cups of water a day to help maintain a healthy balance within your body.
